Bradshaw Orrell Turned 'Green' Into 'Chic' at the Proximity Hotel

March 17, 2009

The Proximity Hotel is located in Greensboro, NC near the intersection of Wendover Avenue and Benjamin Parkway at 704 Green Valley RoadThe Proximity Hotel and Print Works Bistro are named for two cotton mills in Greensboro, NC -- Proximity Cotton Mill and Proximity Print Works. Owned by Moses and Ceasar Cone, the Proximity Company was renamed 'Cone Mills' in 1948, and the rest is history. The mills were located about three miles from where the Proximity Hotel now stands.

The interiors and custom furnishings of both the Hotel and Bistro are the creation of Greensboro designer Bradshaw Orrell and his design team. Highly stylish and fashion forward, the design is at the same time classic in an American manner. If there is a hint of anything European, it’s a sense that everything here is ahead of the curve – and more detailed than what you generally expect to find in the U.S. No flash in the pan here; the Proximity is the new standard.
