State of the Art Green Home Tour in Greensboro, NC
April 6, 2009

I enjoyed a personal tour of the Greenspiration Home this weekend in Greensboro, NC. Built from the ground up with the intention of pursuing LEED certification, the home of Trish Holder and Mark Raines is a case study in intelligent and responsible home construction. (I was particularly excited by their use of the Solatube daylighting system, and the pristine sealed crawlspace -- jealous really, since my house is dark and the crawlspace is a dirty 1950’s nightmare.) And I took lots of pics so there’s more to come.
You can tour the house and talk to Trish and Mark, as well as many of the vendors responsible for the design, construction and decoration, during several upcoming Open House events April 18-19 and 25-26. The Greenspiration Home is located in the Pleasant Oaks subdivision off Pleasant Ridge Road, at 4906 Little Oak Drive. Trish and Mark have kept an extensive on line journal of the building process with lots of cool pics. All proceeds from the tour benefit charities.
Pictured above, Trish begins the official house tour; below, Mark answers questions about the innovative geothermal HVAC system.
