New York has inspired me this year! I’ve been here almost every week and so I was able – for the first time in my life – to really explore not as a tourist, but as a local. I found a great local tailor and fantastic neighborhood bars and restaurants. I’ve been able to see, over a couple summers in the Hamptons, why locals go there for fun and what they do day in/day out. And I really feel the vast congregation of cultures and styles in Manhattan, and being in the capitol of American fashion, has inspired me to a new level. I’ve been lucky to be involved this year in DIFFA and Design on a Dime charity design events, as well as showhouses for Esquire and Veranda, and the standard in interiors here is so incredibly high, I’ve really pushed myself because of it. -- Barclay Butera
