Six Furniture Ttrucking Firms To Merge.
May 14, 2008
Larry Thomas writing for
FURNITURE Today tells us that
Six furniture trucking firms to merge.
The merger, which is expected to close in June, brings together Four Truckers of Morganton, N.C.; Furniture Transportation Systems of Pomona, Calif.; Milwaukee Delivery Service of Jefferson, Wis.; Palmer Transport of Ontario, Calif.; Rudisill Transportation of Hickory, N.C.; and Warren Trucking of Martinsville, Va.
The new company World Wide Logistics (WWL) will be the only specialized furniture carrier that can provide less-than-truckload (LTL) service anywhere in the United States.
Furniture WORLD tells us that “Through their interactive website, WWL will be able to provide real-time information tailored to meet the ever-changing needs of the residential and office furniture industry.”
For furniture and accessories retailers it may mean lower prices for our freight due to economies of scale. It may mean greater input to our customers about arrival dates, since shipments can be tracked in real time on the web.
