Flu-less Fireplaces
November 17, 2007

Is this the new eco-friendly product for this Christmas season?

From Ecosmart The Fire Company comes an environmentally friendly open fireplace powered by denatured alcohol and needing no flu.

Since its inception in 2002, Ecosmart’s ground-breaking concept – an innovative and environmentally-friendly style of open fireplace – was launched onto the Australian market in 2004 and offers:

• New concept of open fireplace
• No flue, no hard connection
• Efficient and effective heating solution
• Independently tested
• Ideal for apartments, houses, bars, restaurants and offices
• Unprecedented design flexibility
• Environmentally friendly
• Fuelled by a renewable green energy
• You can regulate the flame and turn it on/off at any time

Every year we read that some family was asphyxiated in their home, because when they lost the heat they used the barbeque indoors or some other flame heater to keep warm.

My first question was, “How can something burn indoors and require no flu or ducting?”

Answer: Denatured Ethanol is certified safe to burn indoors without venting, because its main by-products are carbon dioxide, water steam and heat.

Take a look at how designers have use Ecosmart fires in homes, condos and apartments:

I love the idea from Ecosmart.  There is nothing like the ambiance of a flickering fire.  What a way to have a fire for heat in a small space without the requirement of a flu.  BTW, no one paid me to like or promote the product.
