Just In Time For Mothers' Day
May 2, 2008

I have been having ant problems.  If I put the used ice cream bowl in the sink without rinsing it or having Ralph the dog lick it clean, before you know it I have little tiny ants signaling their buddies that Mountain Huckleberry is available.

Sometimes, while I type out my latest post for The Landfair Retail Focus, I might be having my morning cereal, my afternoon pizza or a midnight snack.  Invariably, I, and many like me, get crumbs in the keyboard and Cheeto cheese on our mouses (mice?).  I’ve read that the average keyboard harbors 400 times more bacteria than your toilet seat.  Ick! I also have ants in my keyboard.

Just in time for Mothers’ Day, Seal Shield has come out with a dishwasher-safe keyboard and mouse.  It’s advertised as “the world's first antimicrobial , dishwasher-safe keyboard. SILVER SEAL™ is designed to fight MRSA and other infectious bacteria.

Here’s another idea for your Mom.  Digital Picture Frames.  The best news is the price is coming down.  As recently as October,  2007, Coolest Gadgets reviewed five makers of the frames: Pandigital, Kodak, eStarling, Phillips, and  Portable USA.  Screen sizes varied from 6.5 inches to 10.4 inches and prices ranged from $136.93 to $199.31 .  Now, checking in at Amazon, Kodak EasyShare SV-710 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame by Kodak, you can buy new:  $79.90  or there are 17 Used & new from $59.50 and Portable USA 10.4-Inch Digital Picture Frame (PU10W) by Portable USA, you can buy new for $129.99  or there are 31 Used & new from $124.99.

Suppose you give one to your mom and six months from now, you want to update the pictures of little Johnny. Some digital frames have “incorporated wireless technology meaning you can easily update the pictures without have to use memory cards or lug your laptop about.”  Some have MP3s and slide show modes.

I love gadgets!  What are you doing for your Mom this holiday?  Let me know at landfair3554@comcast.net
