Salt Crystal Lamps
October 14, 2007
It is not often that you are able to combine health with fashion. Joanne Doran, author of Decorz.com, claims that combining Salt Crystal Lamps with décor will not only result in a more beautiful room, but will result in a healthier you.
Salt Crystal Lamps are also called salt lamps and rock salt lamps and besides being beautiful they are natural air purifiers handcrafted from the ancient Himalayan salts as well as many other parts of the world.
Salt lamps have the unique ability to generate negative ions in the air so they are able to work as ionizers. Negative ions are essential to us because they purify our air, kill off bacteria and other organisms that can be harmful, and make our environment healthier for us.
I might add, they have a lovely light as these pictures demonstrate.

Some advocates say even the colors have health benefits:
- Orange - Facilitates a feeling of security and is helpful to our nervous system and our mind and activates the kidneys and bladder.
- Yellow - Encourages intellectual comprehension and activates the pancreas, liver and gall bladder.
- Red - Strengthens the vital life force and activates the heart and circulation.
- Pink - Supports the sense of partnership and love and opens your emotional body.
- White - Has a cleansing and detoxifying effect and represents the healing aspect.
- Brown - Helps to find ones own balance and supports earthiness.
Gama International has a page on their web site that answered many of my questions.
There, also, is a connection of salt crystal lamps with Feng Shui, which claims that all is energy or ”Chi” and the good energy that enhances life is Sheng Chi. Because salt crystal lamps beautify their surroundings and give off negative ions, the lamps are valued in decorating and thought to have Sheng Chi.
Thoughts or experiences with salt crystal lamps and are you selling these kinds of lamps in your accessory store? Email me at landfair3554@comcast.net.
