Did You Miss Highpoint?
October 10, 2007
So you didn’t make it to High Point Market! What did you miss?
According to
Earth Times.org “the most fashion-forward looks on the home furnishings horizon include retro-inspired patterns, tactile designs, earth tones, organic and structure-driven silhouettes, designer detailing and multi-era inspirations.”
Retro styling focuses on geometric repeat patterns and oversized florals; tactile designs mean textures that beg to be touched. The “Green” persuasion is evident with eco-colors that saturate new product introductions with earthy tones in various shades and combinations of brown and green.
An innovation this year is the teaming of the High Point Marketing Authority with Geffen Productions to bring us
High Point Market Live, a chronicle of important aspects of High Point market. Some titles:

High Point Market Trend for Fall: Traditional--Customized and Personalized – features Stanley Furniture and Legacy Classic

You could spend hours here watching videos. They are professionally done and very informative.
You, also, must check out the pdf presentation:
FALL 2007 TRENDS FORECAST. High Point Marketing asked “some of the world’s top trend-trackers to tell us what they’re seeing as they look into the future of home fashions. And, we consulted with some key decision makers who are experienced in turning trend forecasts into retail profits.”
Robyn Waters, a leading trend-tracker and author tells us that people are making more individual choices now. We are not all following the elite taste-makers with our color choices, for example.
“When you’re talking to a customer on your selling floor, you are face-to-face with the next big thing–the individual who seeks self-expression in everything they buy.”
If you missed High Point in October, the next major market is in Las Vegas. See you there!
