Nichols & Stone Needs A Hand
June 7, 2008

Versailles Pedestal Table
Nichols & Stone has clarified its status since my post Nichols & Stone Slashes Local Operations.

The company wants to convert from one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in the U.S. by converting “its factory …to an assembly, finishing and packaging operation.”  To do that the company needs help from state agencies.

Thomas Russell at FURNITURE Today writes "Company President Carlton E. “Tuck” Nichols told two local newspapers, the Worcester Business Journal and The Gardner News, that he has been appealing to the state for financial assistance in making the transition"  and unless he’s successful, the company will be forced to close after 151 years!
“If we can get a little decent business and can pull this thing off, we will be around for a long time,” says John Rice, Nichols & Stone’s vice president of sales and marketing.
We love the quality of the chairs and tables, mostly in solid wood, and the company has always been great to work with
