Moving Color™November 17, 2009 Every week I receive a newsletter from TODL, the Trade Only Design Library. I love looking down through the companies and their products. Sometimes I see a particularly interesting furniture or accessory line and first check to see if there is a dealer in the Portland area. If not, then I ask Bev if she has an interest in meeting with the Rep. Most times she is not as impressed as I am. She might tell me that X vendor has the same thing. Sometimes, I am successful in getting her to add the vendor' product to ourline list. Other times, I will write about the product here and maybe it will spark your interest as a business opportunity. One example comes to mind: the open flame accessories for the home that are safe because they don't produce carbon monoxide, a deadly killer in the winter when some desparate people use campstoves inside to beat the cold. This week Moving Color caught my eye with this shower: ![]() The shower is tiled with Northern Lights™ , a 4 X 4 black glass tile that was inspired by the aurora borealis, those shimmering lights of green and red that move like curtains across the sky. It starts out black and like those 60s mood rings changes color as the water from the shower warms. It's pricey! The retail price is $33 per 4inch square tile and this shower could retail for somewhere around $10,000. What a statement though. Typically, Moving Color tiles are used as trim in conjunction with stone tiles. You night use nine linear feet in a five foot shower for a retail cost of about $1,000. The product is fairly new. It was introduced in 2005 and up to 60% of the tiles made here in the U.S. comes from recycled glass. There are several base colors besides the black Moving Color™ is a form of living art, and the potential of our products are only limited by the imagination of the designer implementing them.In addition to Northern Lights™ , Moving Color offers: Watercolors™ are designed to go from a base color to colorless/translucent once it reaches its activation temperature and retain that appearance until the temperature is reduced once again.I asked Bev if we can add this product to our showroom. She hasn't dignified my question with a response. Thoughts? You can comment directly, email me at landfair3554@comcast.net or follow me @landfairfurnitu.
