Christopher Lowell's New TV Show
May 8, 2008
Here’s what caught my eye:
The Doctor of Design, Christopher Lowell, billed by Fine Living Network (FLN) as one of America's most established designers and trusted lifestyle authorities, is premiering a show on TV in July.
Each episode examines today's newsworthy headlines on emerging lifestyle trends and how they profoundly impact the American home in surprising new ways: "Time is quickly eclipsing money, and today's 'upwardly mobile' are now paying for the lifestyle but suddenly have no time to actually enjoy the dream they aspire to," says Lowell.
Among the topics Lowell will discuss are these:
The Jericho Effect: With walls coming down, how to deal with new blend spaces where cooking, formal entertaining, media entertainment and private chill time happen in the same space. (Remember that living room-bedroom combination that included a rotating bed)
The Last Resort: How taking once-a-year family vacations are becoming impossible and expensive, and how the "resort effect" is now being plugged into people's own backyards. (I have posted several times at Landfair Furniture (Blog) about home resorts, here, here and here)
Global Merge: With an increasing number of interracial marriages, how to blend two distinct cultures into one American lifestyle. (What an interesting topic. I have not seen this discussed anywhere.)
The Transcendental Home: How the Zen iconography from leading public spaces is igniting a nationwide home decor craze. What do these symbols mean to a new culture?
Sexy Spaces: The legitimate new commercial design term that's shaping the new American home. What does it mean? The answer might surprise you!
I am looking forward to his show. One thing that needs attention: I went to the
www.fineliving.com/TV website to check the channel number in my location and the site hung up on me. Maybe, Comcast doesn’t carry the station yet. You know they will be getting a call from me.
