Butera to host July launch party for DIFFA's L.A. gala
July 2, 2008
Barclay Butera is kicking off DIFFA’s Dining by Design Los Angeles gala two months early with a launch party in his Los Angeles retail showroom at 169 North la Brea Ave., Thurs., July 17, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Butera is the chairperson for this year’s gala, which takes place in September at the L.A. Mart Design Center. His July party is designed to build awareness for and to encourage participation in September’s Los Angeles show, which promises some of “the most dynamic and innovative dining environments ever created.”
DIFFA’s (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design brings together established talent, budding artists, and celebrated individuals to create three-dimensional dining installations that awe, inspire, and delight. The year long National Tour of installations launched in March at Skylight in New York, and will visit Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston before the year’s end.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local HIV/AIDS service organizations in the greater Los Angeles area. The September gala commences Sat., Sept. 13, with a cocktail preview party, is followed by the Table Hop & Taste Sun., Sept. 14, from noon-5 p.m., and ends with a gala dinner/dance Mon., Sept. 15, from 6:30-11 p.m.
DIFFA is one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education organizations in the U.S. Since its founding in 1984, DIFFA has provided more than $35 million to hundreds of AIDS organizations nationwide.
