BRC Designs gives new life to playing cards, zippers and other recycled materials
April 22, 2010
BRC DESIGNS debuted at Market Square’s juried Salon show at the spring High Point Market this week. Designer Ben Caldwell’s collection includes:
a chair made from 350 "retired" Las Vegas casino playing card decks (28"w, 32" d, 30" h),
(surprisingly comfy) chair and sofa made from recycled zippers and silk ties, and
organpipe-inspired furniture made from half-inch pvc conduit.
A former product-packaging designer, Caldwell is based in Spartanburg, S.C., where his family runs the Grace Management Group of brands (Votivo, Bridgewater and Willowbrook). To see more of Caldwell’s work, visit www.brcdesigns.com.
