Talk gets heated about light bulb regulations

March 14, 2011
The new light bulb regulations and the so-called "bulb ban" have been getting an awful lot of media attention lately, and interestingly, it's become a hot political topic of late.

I set out last month to figure out what's really going on with the ban on incandescent bulbs. I attended a webinar sponsored by the American Lighting Association last month, and reported on it in our March issue Illuminations page, where we deal with issues confronting lamp and lighting retailers.

It was pretty interesting, and it showed me very clearly that there is an awful lot of misinformation about what these new regulations mean. As a seller or producer of lamps and lighting, you need to make sure you know the real story, so you can help guide your customers.

And for fun, and to poke fun at just how policitized some of this talk has become, click here for Stephen Colbert's take on the topic.
