Home furnishings store openings, relocations

Madison, Conn. — Kathy Walsh and Trip Rothschild have opened their fourth Homeward Bound store, in Madison. The store carries furnishings, gifts and apparel with an emphasis on organic, sustainable and fairly traded goods. Homeward Bound stores are also located in Great Barrington, Mass., New Milford, Conn., and West Hartford, Conn. Walsh is a member of Home Accents Today’s Retail Advisory Board, and the retailer was profiled in the January 2008 issue.

Jamestown, N.C. — Furnitureland South is celebrating the opening of its newly expanded and renovated Outlet Center this month by giving away a $5,000 shopping spree. The new 300,000-sq.-ft. center showcases more than 150 designed rooms of home furnishings, all available for sale off the floor. Grand Haven, Mich. — Susan Westgate opened Panache Home at 218 Washington, offering accessories, furniture, tabletop, art, rugs, pillows, garden decor, gift items and design services.

 

Seattle, Wash. — Masins Fine Furnishings & Interior Design announced plans to open its third Seattle area location, a 2,100-sq.-ft. store at the Bravern development in Bellevue that will carry decorative accessories, lamps, rugs and pillows. The family-owned retailer was founded in Seattle in 1927.

 

New York, N.Y. — Raymour & Flanigan signed a 10-year lease for its first store on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The Liverpool, N.Y.-based retailer will take 30,000 square feet on two levels at 1961 Broadway, a space formerly occupied by Circuit City. With the Broadway showroom, Raymour will have nine New York-area stores, including three in Manhattan.

 

Camden, Me. — Jo Ellen Designs has moved to 22 Main Street in downtown Camden, next to the Lord Camden Inn.

 

Monroe, Ohio — Riley’s Furniture Gallery has opened a second Cincinnati-area store, in the Cincinnati Premium Outlets.

 

Hendersonville, N.C. — Diane Foley opened D’Ellie’s Garden Center & What Nots, selling home decor items and gifts in addition to trees, shrubs and flowers, at 2594 Chimney Rock Rd.
