Hi! It's really interesting seeing the US bombay shoppers so dedicated to the brand. I currently work in a canadian store, and a lot of the items you guys are mentioning i've either never heard of or are discontinued.

verandah collection - coffee table is discontinued. everything else is available.
it's called STANTON not stratton. and we have the entire collection, uppers and lowers file chest. b/w we have tons of, but depends.

I was so disappointed to see that bombay was closing, they had so many unique items for kids rooms. I've been searching for a set of basketball lamps that only they seem to have sold. The globe that lite up looked just like a basketball and stayed in place with a round center opened glass that the globe fit it with silver metal holding the glass. Can anyone help me find this particular item. Looking for the curtain rod with the football screwed on each end as well and the football or basketball wall clock made of real football and basketball material. Bombay Brands LLC is the new name from the old Bombay. The original bombay has a 25% stake and have sold most to Hilcorp (see Bombay Brands for news) I miss Bombay too and I thank God we all share the same passion for their fine wooden furniture, and home decor. They have the Bombay Brands LLC website now, but does not display furniture and accessories yet. My family and I plan to celebrate with wine once it reopens. Bombay is truly a national icon and is a permanent stamp of well known goods. God bless USA and Canada

I worked for Bombay for over 6 years here in the maryland/DC area I managed over 5 different stores and absolutely loved my job and all the people I worked with from my associates to my peers and my upper management who were the best mentors and support systems. You don't find this with many other companies and I am greatful for the influences and guidance I was given. I miss them everyday. I can also say that our stores were high in productivity and had a great selling culture. Since I read in other comments that this wasn't the case, I would beg to differ. I am so happy to find there are others who loved and miss the Bombay Company. I felt as if a major part of my life was missing. Whenever I entered a store, be it Ky., NY,Ohio, or Pa, I felt at home. I didn't realize that there were so many others looking for the Bombay goods. I grew up shopping there and miss it. I found their Canadian site. Not only can we not order from the states, I was disappointed to see that under the contact us on their page, it clearly stated "For Canadian Customers Only". Not very friendly in my opinion. I am considering looking for an alternative now.

I worked at the Bombay store in Silver Spring, Md. I loved the products and furniture that was offered and was very unhappy when the store closed. It was my first and only retail job. The only thing I didn't like about the store was how the employees were treated by the managers, they were not employee friendly at all! Gordon Brothers were much friendly and easier to work with. I think Bombays demise was contributed to a lack of strong marketing/sales policy which cost the company a lot in shrinkage. However, the products were the best and I can't wait for the new opening whether in stores or oneline.

I work for Bombay for 3 years and most of you are just so pathetic. Same old customer b.s. Asking for the impossible like we can just pull it out of nowhere. Your gift cards are useless, your furniture is gone! Get over it and move on, stores closed, people lost their jobs. I miss the Bombay Company and especially now that I am looking for the smaller Varese table (the one that goes with the Varese Console, aka the marble with brass lion head pulls). I worked for Bombay and absolutely LOVED every min. of it. That is of course untill we started going through the liquidation process and I had to watch my store and everything that I had worked so hard on be torn apart. Bombay was my passion I always enjoyed my job and my guests. I do miss it very very much and would work for them again in a heartbeat!!!! I can only wish that Bombay would come back to life!

I worked for the Bombay Company from 2004-2006 as an assistant manager. It was - without question - the worst company I have EVER worked for. Absolutely no integrity from the corporate heads all the way down to the district managers. The stories are so endless that I've even heard of support groups for former employees. Disgusting. The product was great for a while, until we started trying to compete and lost sight of OUR customer so that one particulair member of home office could decorated his apartment the way he liked. Unfortunately, his style was not Bombay's customer's style. I have to admit, though I loathe the company I worked for, I long to see the style of classic Bombay come alive again under its new branding. It is GREATLY missed by its customer.

Bombay failed because their prices went through the roof for 3rd world merchandise. On top of trying to bluff the consumer into believing the products were high quality just by raising the sell price to unrealistic levels, all their real estate and store overhead was in the highest cost areas. Anyone who really looked at most of their stuff knew it was really worth about half of what they were trying to sell it for. It’s that simple.

I was THRILLED to find a Bombay when I visited my uncle in Halifax, NS Canada and bought some of the 08 nutcrackers but the clerk told me I would be unable to order things there and have them shipped to me unless my uncle bought them, as a Canadian resident, and THEN shipped them to me. What's up with that??

just to let all you gift card/certificate holders know... i worked for the company. and i was "secretly" told that the address where everyone was supposed to send and report their claims to the bankruptcy court... the company owned alot of money - and the gentleman who bought the title ONLY bought the title. so when he does reopen, he gets to use the same logo, brand and have the same customer loyalty without all the debt and OBLIGATIONS - including honoring the gift cards/cetificates. the letter that you were supposed to pick up from the stores to "report" and "claim" to the court system said that (from what i can remember and was explained...) a chunk of money (amount was depending on banrupcy court's decision) was to be set aside and all the people who sent in claims would be given money out of the money set aside... but no one should expect anything back. the court would also have FULL CONTROL on how much and WHO would recieve even a portion of their claim back. it sucks. and was horrible to try and smile to the guests as they handed me gift card after gift card... all i could legally do is give them the letter, apologize for the inconvenience, have a sympathetic look on my face, and hand them back their cards. so im sorry... but those cards aren't even worth the plastic they are printed on.

You can't walk around my house and not spot something from Bombay in it. I'm particularly fond of three settees I have, all of different fabrics and shapes, all comfy yet elegant. Bombay is one store I've never regretted a purchase from. It makes my day to know the brand name could very well make its way back to the States!

Wow, I didn't know so many other people had the 'Bombay Blues' like me! I absolutely love all of my Bombay Co. purchases, from a black-granite-topped bombay chest to a large burnt orange pumpkin, to name a few. I got most of my stuff for 30 to 50% off with their online coupons, as well as mailouts, throughout the years. When they closed their doors, it was probably the biggest letdown I ever felt in terms of a retailer. When they open their doors again in some capacity, I'll be there.

I purchased Castleton coffee and end table before I even heard they were closing. Got breast cancer and treatment, doing well now. Just redecorated my living room and opened the boxes. The coffee table is gorgeous but the end table had no legs in the box and it should!! Anyone have any ideas where I can get them? Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

I was watching the price of a Bombay bed I really wanted drop, but before I could purchase it the store was closed! I have been keeping an eye on this whole going out of business ordeal ever since. i know bombay stuff is at pier 1 stores, some of their stuff like the blue and white teapot and coffee mugs, i bought mine from bombay a year and a half before they closed, and now theyre at pier 1...the ombre bowl is also at pier 1...i had bought mine from bombay...but they have that now at pier 1 too...my friend lives in canada and also told me they can mail stuff to me if i like, so if you have relatives or friends in canada you might want to get them to mail you items....but i cant wait til bombay lets us order furniture from their canada store...i loved bombay and have tons of paintings,furniture, etc...i wish they would come back here soon!!!! but for now check out your local pier 1 they may have some bombay stuff

Teresa, The veranda collection will be coming back in stock only next spring according to our recent information at store level. At that time you would have to find a way to puchase it at one of the Canadian stores ( unfortunately you cannot order from the website). As far as i know, the barstool for this collection has been discontinued, along with the bakers rack. We were told these pieces wont be coming back, but ya never know....

To all you ex-Bombay employees... i feel for you. i will constantly be checking for updates on the US re-openings. i will be first in line! i LOVED my District Visual Trainer Position. It gave me a chance to teach (my #1 passion) and combination with Interior design (my #2 passion). Believe me - Ask ANYONE who ever worked in a Bombay Company store, this company had absolutely NO integrity and NO proper human resources department. Despite their incredbile brand of stylish decor and wonderful concept, they treated their employees wrong and sadly, paid for it in the long run.

In regards to the block art, I found it at KHOLS or Jc Penny....I don't remember. Good Luck. It looks easy to make if you go to Home Depot and buy different sized blocks. You can paint the blocks different colors (metallic and matt paints) then paste to a board, glaze it and then frame it with molding. I'm going to try it.

I worked for bombay for years in Maryland and I totally blame the management for the demise. Every manager they brought in was worse than the last-outright rude to long time customers and would lie about delivery dates and sometimes never even order the merchandise. Even though corporate got numerous complaints nothing was done and I finally had to leave. I loved the store and really miss the style of merchandise. I guess I was lucky to get the pieces I have with my employee discount and I still treasure all of it.

I was a manger for several stores in the late 80's, early 90's. Their niche was unique traditonal accent pieces assemple yourself long before Ikea and others were in the US. Early American Life and Colonial Homes magazines used to feature their pieces in small ads in the late 1970's. The company had supply and distribution issues as well as ttying to keep their market vibrant by expanding to biedermier and other later styles. I miss the store, but the merchandise selection was going way too mainstream.

I was an employee of Bombay in Merrillville, IN and I really do miss that store too. I was still in college so I was only able to work maybe 20 hours a week, but i liked everyone, the pay was pretty good, and I never dreaded going to work...until we had to close and all the "vultures" came to shop! If they do re-open I would apply in a heartbeat. Great work atmosphere and I had the greatest boss ever...Mary Ann!!!!!

I worked at Bombay right before they closed. It's really sad to see such a wonderful store go out of business. I hated the whole liquidation process. The customers were rude! They weren't our normal customers, just a bunch of cheapskates who wanted everything for pennys. And they would get upset if you didn't have multiple items on stock, if you were still getting shipments but didn't know what was on them, if you couldn't hold items, if you couldn't give them an additional 10% off the 40% they were already getting off, etc. Even our regular customers stopped coming and were tired of all the haggling. It was really really tough. The employees I worked with were wonderful and driven and such a bunch of close knit of people. I wish I had started earlier. I was lucky to walk away with some fabulous pieces (two glamor chests, a geoffery mirror, benton chairs). I'm glad to hear it's coming back. If it does, I will definitely reapply.

You can probably find the hardware you are looking for at Home Depot, or any other local hardware store. The hardware we use really isn't anything unique to Bombay. In our store, in Canada, we accept old gift cards if they were purchased in Canada. If you bought it in the US you will not be able to use it in Canada. And i doubt if/when Bombay re-opens in the US you will be able to use the cards, because it will be an entirely new company.

Hello, Ive been working for Bombay for over 5 years now, in Montreal Canada (where we still have stores). Things seem to be going well, it was a slow start once we re-opened our stores, but things have picked up and are almost back to normal. I find it exciting that the Bombay in the US will most likely be coming back - looking forward to that. Although now I'm sure they'll have different merchandise than we do in the Canadian stores.

Try check on company name Auroviz International if interested on finding Bombay kind of products. This new company is form by a group of ex-Bombay employees which formerly responsible in sourcing and supplying goods to Bombay USA. I believe they are still supplying to Bombay Canada as for now.

I worked for the Bombay Company for three years at the retail level. I never thought that there was an issue with the quality or design of the furniture. However, there was a huge issue with the training as well as tools that the home office provided to the stores. It's rediculous to think that the store did not provide associates with guidelines to nonnegotiable selling behaviors, associate sales goals, and associate observation forms to observe associate performace like every single other retail company that I have worked for since. I feel that Bombay's demise is in part the fault of the corporate sales team for not realizing that they weren't impacting customer experience by forgetting about such important selling tools. The company basically had no selling strategy or selling culture what so ever.

I was really disappointed in the closing of the US leg of the Bombay company. I have furnished my house through the bombay store for many years, they will truly be missed. I felt like I had stock in Bombay, however, not. Such a loss!!

On 12/30 I was in our local franchise buying up store fixtures and equipment and feeling like a vulture (but swivel hang diplays for $15...whatchya gonna do and I NEEDED that hand-truck) and when I got back to the store the staff was surprised that the company had gone under...though none had been a Bombay Co. store in years. So there MIGHT be a lingering fondness for the brand before the quality got iffy. If they up the quality and do enough research on what works in a modern home (traditional is one thing, but Great-grandma's house is another), they might be able to make a silk purse out of the sow's ear of their demise. Was that mean?
