Overstockart.com launches online design tool for wall decor
Overstockart.com is in the process of rolling out its new “View in a Room” tool, an application that al
lows logged-in users to upload an image of a wall in their home on which they can “hang” a painting from the online retailer’s inventory to see how it might look before buying.
David Sasson, CEO of Overstockart.com said the new application makes shopping for art online a more personal, interactive experience. “This new tool is bridging the gap between the touch-and-feel experience of shopping at a brick and mortar store compared to the obvious advantages of shopping online.” Sasson expects the new shopping tool will increase the company’s conversion rate by 30%.
“View in a Room” is already functional, with an enhancement scheduled for early June that will enable customers to use the application to try out different frames. A subsequent social networking enhancement will allow customers to share the image and enlist the input of friends and family in making their selections.
To try it out, visit Overstockart.com, select a painting, click on it to open, and click on "view in a room" to launch the tool using the generic room templates provided. Users must create an account to upload images of their own rooms.
