Bring Back The Baker Sofa?

Kim Cook of the AP wrote recently in Home decor this fall: ‘Perfect’ is out, real is in:
Perhaps the biggest theme in home decorating going into fall is comfortable, real, personalized style.[…]
Where fashion goes, home decor is never far behind. And this fall, home retailers continue to take cues from decades past, such as ’60s and ’70s styles ranging from loose and relaxed to sophisticated and worldly.
The next day I read that OneCollection will reintroduced two sofas that were designed by Finn Juhl in the 1950s. I know that’s a little farther back than the ’60s and ’70s, but the two sofas were unfamiliar to me, the Baker sofa and the Wall sofa.
The Baker sofa is known as one of the most beautiful sofas by the hand of Finn Juhl, designed in 1951 for the company Baker Furniture in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Baker Furniture is still selling fine furniture, however now it operates as a subsidiary of Koehler Co. At one time Grand Rapids was billed as America’s Furniture City and in the late 1890s, over 7,000 people were employed in furniture factories across the state.
The Wall sofa is inspired by modern art, such as Henry Moore, Hans Arp, Erik Thommesen and Picasso, in which Finn Juhl was very interested. The sofa has lacquered steel legs and the upholstery is handmade. It got its name from the fact that it is fastened to the wall.
Cook goes on to write
Watch for country-style furniture; cottage print textiles; farm animal motifs; quilts as wall hangings and throws; folk art and faux general-store signage as wall art; flour-sack pillow covers; baskets and hooked rugs.
I parted company with Cook on that note, but I do think both sofas would look great in the modern condos with their clean lines.
