Mike Landfair

Mike Landfair is the "unpaid and untitled warehouseman, deluxer and marketing guru" for his wife's business, Landfair Furniture + Design Gallery, a role he assumed following his retirement from a career as a stockbroker. He posts to two blogs, movermike.com and landfairfurniture.blogspot.com, the latter of which he launched in 2005 to boost business at the store. The Landfair Furniture blog's success in serving the local interior design community and retail public has been written up on numerous business blogs, in the Portland Business Journal, and as a success case for a blogging study conducted last year by Northeastern University and Backbone Media. Landfair has a BS in political science and economics, is an avid reader, enjoys writing poetry, and finds abundance, health and joy in the world around him.

When I posted about metallics recently, I was intrigued by Shannon Baugh's comments regarding the new St. Tropez collection from Lexington Home Brands. She discussed the metallic accents that are incorporated in the various velvet and silk fabrics used on the upholstery. "It's a nice luxurious fabric. It's livable and comfortable, but chic and trendy.  Gold and silver bring in a feeling of warmth."  Then she said, "The golden color plays a prominent part in the upholstered quatrefoil design found on the ...Read More

Metallics Are In!

Hali Bernstein Saylor at the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported about the role of metallics at World Market in early September:
From accessories to fabrics, gold, silver, bronze and other metals were front and center when manufacturers from across the globe gathered recently to showcase their new wares for the industry at the World Market Center Las Vegas. Home decorators should expect to see metallic finishes everywhere this fall.
In this economy the neutral colors are predominating.  Clients of designers are conservative and not willing to make big mistakes, but...Read More
