Nina Campbell

Nina Campbell’s decorating career began at the age of nineteen as assistant to John Fowler of Colefax & Fowler fabric and wallpaper designers. Shortly after, she set up her own decorating business and later partnered with Fowler in a shop specializing in "unashamed luxury." Nina went on to establish a business in Walton Street, Knightsbridge where she developed the fabric printing side of the business and continued to branch out into other decorative areas. In addition to her ongoing partnership with Stein Mart, the Nina Campbell line includes two fabric, wallpaper and trimmings collections a year distributed through Osborne and Little; paints for the Paint Library, rugs for The Rug Company and carpets for Wool Classics. She holds licensing deals with Johnston's, Lady Clare and Arthur Brett, and is an author of three books and mother of three. www.ninacampbell.com

Yuck at first sight...

August 28, 2007 | Link This | Email this | Comments (3)

When I go into a shop and the shelves are too muddled I immediately switch off! The more product thrown together on a shelf, the less inclined I am to buy. I also think that lighting is really important -- it can be so awful and unwelcoming and, more importantly, distort the colour of things. I tend to take objects to the window anyway to check the colour. In my own shop, I like to group colours together for customers. I also love finding new colour combinations to put together that people may not have thought of before. I like to feel inspired when I walk into a shop -- it entices me to buy things I might not have. --Nina Campbell
