Young designers to show off work during Ambiente

German home show Ambiente has invited young designers from 11 countries to demonstrate their skills to the consumer-goods world, and the results will be on display during the show.

Ambiente 2008 will be held Feb. 8-12 in Frankfurt, Germany. The designers will display their ideas, prototypes and a small initial product series in Hall 6.1.

The products were selected for their sustainability, multi-purpose functionality, appeal to all ages, and individuality.

Mamoru Kukui, from Japan, designed a wooden accent piece that mimics a stack of balancing stones. Designers Rafinesse & Tristesse recycle metal and plastic into seats and kitchen furnishings. Defyra, from Sweden, makes stools from old skis. Polish Joanna Chamka-Joworska designed a series of dishes. Sebastian Amelung, of Germany, created flexible luminaries that can be reconstructed into different shapes. Taiwanese Nattaboon Trinathy developed inflatable luminaries.

Other designers include: Switzerland's Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz Polytechnic, and Germany's die Prototypen Studio, Steffi Auffenbauer and Tanja Niedermann.
