Zia-Priven Design introduced the Troy chandelier, a modern interpretation of a classic French Empire design, at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in March. Featuring a polished nickel center band with a raised ring motif, the unique lighting fixture is crafted of more than 5,000 ping pong balls. A 10-foot-tall, 4.5-foot-wide version, spotlighted in the show's lounge, was donated to Charity Buzz, an online auction benefitting AIDS research at The Rockefeller University. A smaller, 4-foot version also debuted as part of the collection. "We were invited and challenged to create a real knock-out piece for the fabulous customer lounge," said Paul Priven, partner in Zia-Priven Design, "and the Troy is what evolved." eLink 709

Pablo Mekis has ex-panded his artisan pillow lineup to include table lamps and framed textiles. Drawing from the same motifs available in the pillow collection, more than 1,000 fun-and-fashionable patterns (scallops and seahorses, to name a few) can be hand-embroidered onto linen, wool or silk lampshades in 50+ color choices. Wooden lamp bases come in eight different styles, shown in a natural finish or with silver and gold patinas. "That's what makes the collection fun," said owner Pablo Mekis. "You can customize your lamp or your pillow, even changing the color of the thread and the piping." In a departure from Roberta Schilling Collection's traditional hand-painted furniture from Brazil, the company rolls out the Moderna Collection this month. Highlighting the latest trends in modern furniture design, the elegant grouping juxtaposes sophisticated, straight lines against highly textural materials like granite and Travertine marble.
