Plates, serveware and glassware flaunt pattern-bedecked surfaces full of irresistible texture and depth, bringing a dollop of flair to the table this season. Designers draw inspiration from a variety of sources including textiles, bamboo and henna tattoos. While some offerings are highly interpretational, others remain true to form.
Made of chrome and ceramic, the Openwork bowl from Payne Street makes a modern statement ($297). Made of recycled aluminum, the Garden Bamboo flat trays and spreader showcase designs mimicking bamboo shoots from Beatriz Ball Collection ($17 to $95). Inspired by the Indian tradition of henna tattooing, Murval's Silver Hand plates display stylish patterning in metallic silver ($12 to $22). Two's Company's Tibetan silver serving pieces add pizzazz to the table with textured handles ($60).
Marked in a pattern resembling plaid, Artel's Viden double old-fashioned glasses offer a sure way to sip in style. Available colors are blue, smoke, crystal and chartreuse, ($189 to $231 each).
Inspired by the basketry and pottery making traditions of the Lakota Sioux Plains Indians, the Lakota tumbler spotlights a raised geometric design from Pendleton Home ($48, set of four).
