Interactive mapping offered for High Point market

The International Home Furnishing Market Authority introduced a Market Planner mapping feature to help attendees navigate the High Point market.

The Market Planner feature, located at www.highpointmarket.org, allows users to select and map desired exhibitor and event locations. It includes shuttle times, routes and numbers for traveling to those locations. Users can search and map their routes by category or company. The Market Planner also can create a PDF for each map. The PDF format lets users save maps or e-mail them to others. 

“It is the Authority’s mission to make High Point the best Market in the industry,” IFMA President Judy Mendenhall said. “The Market Planner is an interactive mapping experience that will increase the efficiency through which our attendees navigate the buildings at Market. This organizational tool will help visitors maximize their time in High Point, making it beneficial and valuable to the business goals at hand.”

The Market Planner is available at no charge on the IHFMA Web site under the Exhibitor Listing and Calendar sections.


Vioski launches Web site

Architect, furniture designer and retailer Jeff Vioski and his partner Doug DeSantis have launched their Web site, www.vioski.com.
 
The site features Vioski’s modern collection of furniture including upholstery, wood and metal as well as home design products like lighting, carpets, textiles and other accessories, which he also sells through his retail outlet in Los Angeles.

Visitors to the site can print out images, measurements and, if applicable, yards of material to be used. The furniture collection, which is manufactured in Southern California, includes chairs, sofas, and sectionals as well as tables, display units, consoles and beds.

“We’re pleased to offer Vioski.com to the consumer, trade and media communities,” said DeSantis, who is the co-founder and general manager of Vioski. “The site provides easy access to information about our products and company while simultaneously reflecting Jeff’s elegant, modern design style.”

The Vioski collection is built to order and largely customizable according to a client’s spatial and other design needs.


National Retail Federation endorses ICE

The National Retail Federation is encouraging members to endorse ICE, which stands for In Case of Emergency, a new awareness campaign that will allow ambulance crews, police officers and rescue personnel to quickly contact family or friends in the event of an accident or disaster. The ICE initiative, conceived by a paramedic in England after the London bombing, is to have cell phone users program the acronym ICE before the names of emergency contacts.

“With one in five Americans working in the retail industry, it is crucial that retailers prepare their employees for potential disasters,” said NRF Vice President of Loss Prevention Joe LaRocca.

“As a touch point for consumers, retailers should also be encouraging their customers to use ICE in the unlikely event of an emergency. ICE is a simple, yet invaluable resource that retailers can use if a customer or employee needs emergency assistance while in their stores.”
