ASHEVILLE, N.C. – North Carolina maker said it plans to open a new store in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., this fall. Located on Wisconsin Avenue, the space marks the brand’s third storefront and first permanent location in the D.C. Metro area.

The new store will be East Fork’s largest retail footprint to date. The new location spans nearly 2,000 square feet of retail space, with an additional 700 square feet dedicated to events and programming, the company said. The store will carry East Fork’s core and rotating seasonal tableware colors as well as other categories of goods such as those related to gardening, apothecary and the pantry.

The store will also host workshops, installations and other activations throughout the year, creating “opportunities for gathering and cultural participation,” the company said in a release.

Ahead of opening, East Fork will begin establishing roots in the Georgetown community through a series of local partnerships, pop-ups and community events.

“I have always been blown away by the support and enthusiasm our customers in D.C. have for East Fork,” said Alex Matisse, CEO and co-founder. “Something about the pottery seems to resonate deeply with them. We’ve built some amazing relationships with our D.C. customers through our Seconds Sales, and the last one I attended had a line that must have been a quarter mile long at least. We’re excited to be in such good retail company in Georgetown and to have a big space to deepen the relationships we already have and welcome new faces into the East Fork universe.”

The store is being designed by Mother Studio, the Asheville-based firm behind East Fork’s retail locations in Asheville, N.C., and Brooklyn, N.Y., and will carry forward the brand’s distinct design language through the use of natural materials, layered textures, and expansive pottery displays.
